Who can be a bookkeeper?

So many times I heard people say: “Everybody can be a bookkeeper!”

But is that really true?

When you are looking for a bookkeeper, first and always check if the person has a primary academic qualification.

Primary academic qualification in bookkeeping or accounting is a Certificate IV level or a higher award (for example, a diploma, Advanced diploma or degree). The qualification must have been obtained from a registered training organization or an equivalent institution.

If the person does not have this qualification then they are not a bookkeeper and I would not be trusting them to accurately prepare your financial information.

Some bookkeepers are also a BAS agent (which stands for Business Activity Statement Agent).  This is a further qualification and requires the person to be registered with the Tax Practitioners Board.  This comes with further training, insurance and legal requirements that a BAS Agent must adhere to.

We at AAA Office management have all those qualifications.

Please contact us if you are looking for a reliable bookkeeper.
